Sabrina Wanjiku Simader
Sabrina Wanjiku Simader is Kenya's first and only alpine ski racer, born in Kilifi and raised in Austria. At just 27, she has represented Kenya at international levels since the age of 16, making history at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Despite her groundbreaking achievements, Sabrina has faced significant challenges, including a lack of financial support from the National Olympic Committee of Kenya, leading her to contemplate retirement. She has devoted over a decade to skiing while funding her own training, often at great personal expense, and has publicly demanded better support for athletes from her country.
