Sahrial, a 40-year-old Indonesian man, made headlines after he was discovered hiding in a drainage ditch filled with fish waste to evade arrest by the Malaysian Immigration Department. With his work permit and travel documents expired for about two years, he had previously been detained and deported in 2006. Sahrial has been working in Malaysia since 2004, and despite his precarious situation, he expressed his willingness to face the consequences of his illegal status, prioritizing his family's needs back in Indonesia.
