Sampath Kothalawela

Sampath Kothalawela is a retired Major General and the Director General of the Disaster Management Center in Sri Lanka. He has been prominently involved in disaster preparedness and management efforts, particularly regarding tsunami warnings and safety protocols. Recently, he announced plans for a nationwide tsunami preparedness drill scheduled for November 5, aimed at enhancing the readiness of various governmental and non-governmental agencies in response to potential tsunami threats in the Indian Ocean region.
