Samuel Blase

Commander Samuel Blase is the executive officer of the USCGC Polar Star, the United States' only active heavy icebreaker. Under his command, the Polar Star recently celebrated its 50th year of commissioned service while successfully assisting the cruise ship Scenic Eclipse II, which became trapped in thick Antarctic ice near McMurdo Sound. Blase's leadership plays a crucial role in the vessel's annual missions to support research operations in Antarctica.
