Samuel K. Doe, Sr.
Samuel K. Doe, Sr. was a prominent Liberian military officer and politician who served as the 21st president of Liberia from 1980 until his overthrow in 1990. Doe came to power after leading a coup d'état that deposed the previous president, William R. Tolbert, Jr. His rule was marked by widespread human rights abuses, economic decline, and civil unrest, ultimately leading to a brutal civil war in Liberia. He was captured and executed in 1990 during the conflict, which was fueled by ethnic tensions and political instability in the country.
