Sandra McCarthy is an 81-year-old New Zealand entrepreneur and philanthropist who has made significant contributions to the welfare of orphans in Bangladesh. She first visited the country in 2015 as a vocational education auditor for Rotary International and was deeply affected by the living conditions of children in an orphanage she encountered. In response, she initiated the 'Buy a Bed' project to raise funds, which led to the construction of a modern orphanage named 'Amij Uddin Orphanage'. In 2018, she co-founded 'Sandra Foods International Limited', a bakery business in partnership with Tasbih Hossain, to generate revenue to support the orphanage, committing to never take any profits for herself.
