Sayedah Nafisa
Sayedah Nafisa, also known as Nafisa al-‘Ilm, was a revered Islamic scholar and saint born in Mecca in 145 AH (762 CE) and later moved to Medina. She was a direct descendant of Imam Hasan ibn Ali and known for her piety and knowledge. Nafisa was celebrated for her deep devotion, having performed the pilgrimage to Mecca thirty times, often on foot. She was highly respected by contemporaries, including the famous jurist Imam al-Shafi'i, who sought her prayers during times of distress. Sayedah Nafisa moved to Egypt, where she continued to inspire many through her teachings and charitable acts, eventually passing away in 208 AH (824 CE). Her tomb has become a significant site for prayer and devotion, attracting thousands of visitors who seek her intercession.
