Seaford Harvey

Seaford Harvey is a 67-year-old artisan and wood carver from Jamaica, who has been crafting sculptures for over three decades. Once able to easily source lignum vitae, a dense and durable timber prized for its beauty and medicinal uses, Harvey now finds it increasingly scarce. Trading his sculptures at the Ocho Rios Craft Market, he reflects on the decline of this national flower, expressing concern over its diminishing presence in the landscape and the challenges faced by artisans relying on it for their craft.
