Selam

fossil Ethiopia

Selam is a fossil of a juvenile Australopithecus, discovered in Ethiopia, which lived approximately 100,000 years after Lucy. Selam, whose name means 'peace' in Amharic, has not yet traveled outside of Ethiopia and represents a unique discovery in the study of human ancestry. The fossil, which was found in the same location as Lucy but 25 years later, is notable for its well-preserved state and offers insights into the development of early hominins.
