
Senzeni Marasela
Senzeni Marasela, born in 1977 in Thokoza, Gauteng, is a multidisciplinary artist known for her exploration of black South African womanhood, memory, and displacement through various mediums including performance, photography, and textiles. A graduate of the Wits School of Arts, her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Venice Biennale. Marasela's recent exhibition, 'Waiting and Remembering,' showcases her commitment to art as a form of public memory, featuring her alter ego Theodorah, who symbolizes loss and historical rupture.
