Séraphin Moudounga

Séraphin Moudounga is a prominent Gabonese politician who has recently been appointed as the first Vice-President of the new Republic under President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. At 61 years old, Moudounga has a rich political history, having served as a minister in various capacities, including Minister of Education and Minister of Justice. His political journey has been marked by a significant break from the previous regime, leading to his exile in France after contesting Ali Bongo's re-election in 2016. Following the military coup in August 2023, he returned to Gabon and has now taken on a pivotal role in the country's transition to a new constitutional framework, where he is empowered to temporarily assume presidential duties when necessary.
