Sergei Kanowitsch

Sergei Kanowitsch is a prominent expert on the cultural heritage of the Litvaks, the Jews of Lithuania, and the founder of the NGO Maceva, which focuses on the preservation of Jewish cemeteries. He was instrumental in the development of the Lost Shtetl Museum in Scheduva, which aims to tell the story of Jewish life in Lithuania. However, he recently left the museum's board due to fundamental disagreements over its direction and representation of Jewish history during the Holocaust.
