Sergey Khomenko

Sergey Khomenko is a Belarusian politician and former Minister of Justice, who transitioned from a background in the internal affairs sector to politics. Initially serving as the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Department of Protection, he was appointed Minister of Justice in October 2021, despite lacking prior legal experience. His tenure was marked by efforts to dismantle civil society structures, which he executed with notable efficiency. After being appointed to the Council of the Republic in April 2024, Khomenko has recently announced his departure from this position, citing personal initiative, after serving for approximately a year and a half.
