Sergey Khudyakov

Sergey Khudyakov is a Kazakhstani man who was wrongfully convicted and sentenced to four years in prison for the illegal cultivation of cannabis. His case was brought to the attention of the Supreme Court, which overturned his conviction, acknowledging that the initial trial had improperly expanded the charges against him. The Supreme Court found that Khudyakov had not engaged in any illegal cultivation practices beyond simply planting seeds and watering the plants, thus lacking the necessary elements for a criminal offense. Following this ruling, Khudyakov was exonerated and granted the right to rehabilitation.
