Sérgio Vidal is an accomplished Brazilian painter, born in 1945 in the Gamboa neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. Known for his vibrant and detailed depictions of everyday life, particularly within the Afro-Brazilian community, Vidal's work reflects nearly six decades of artistic endeavor. He was a disciple of renowned artist Heitor dos Prazeres, learning the importance of representing joy and culture through art. His first major retrospective, 'Sérgio Vidal: nas batucadas da vida', recently opened at the Museu do Pontal, showcasing 34 of his works that encapsulate his artistic journey and connection to the rich cultural heritage of Rio.
