
Sergiy Voytsekhivskyi
Sergiy Voytsekhivskyi was a notable Czech general of Belarusian origin, born in Vitebsk in 1883. He began his military career in the Russian Imperial Army and later played a significant role in the establishment of the Czechoslovak Army after World War I. Despite his contributions to anti-fascist resistance during the Nazi occupation, he was arrested by Soviet authorities in 1945 and perished in a Gulag in 1951. Recently, his descendants received the Cross of State Protection posthumously awarded to him by the Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic.
