Shahi Hussein

Shahi Hussein is a 20-year-old Kurdish woman from Syria who has lived in Denmark since she was seven. Despite leading a seemingly normal life as a political science student in Odense, she feels like a second-class citizen due to her lack of Danish citizenship. Shahi has become an advocate for young people without citizenship rights in Denmark, highlighting the bureaucratic challenges they face in gaining equality and representation in society. She recently participated in a panel debate at Folkemødet to raise awareness about the obstacles in the citizenship process, aiming to make the experiences of undocumented youth more visible.
