Shahpour Bakhtiar
Shahpour Bakhtiar was an Iranian politician who served as the last Prime Minister of Iran under Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi. Appointed in a desperate attempt to quell the 1979 revolution, Bakhtiar faced immense challenges as he tried to maintain stability in a nation engulfed in protests against the monarchy. He was a member of the National Front and advocated for a secular democratic government. After the fall of the Shah, Bakhtiar fled to Paris, where he became a target of the new Islamic regime and was ultimately assassinated by Islamist agents in 1991. His tenure as Prime Minister is often viewed as a pivotal moment in Iran's tumultuous transition from monarchy to the Islamic Republic.
