Shane Casey

Shane Casey, 32, was recently jailed for over six years for an arson attack on Christmas Day 2023, during which he set fire to a house in Cork city with four people inside. He was also charged with assault for attacking one of the occupants with a blade, leading to significant injuries. The incident, which resulted in extensive property damage and required multiple fire brigade units to control, was compounded by Casey's mental health issues, including paranoid psychosis and schizophrenia. At the time of the attack, he was on bail for a previous aggravated burglary offense.
