Shane Foran

Shane Foran is a prominent cycling advocate and a founding participant of Cyclist.ie, a national alliance of cycling campaign groups in Ireland. Recently, he made headlines after unsuccessfully challenging a multimillion-euro apartment development in Galway, primarily due to concerns regarding inadequate cycling infrastructure. As a resident of Rahoon, Foran argued that the absence of cycle paths on both sides of the adjoining road was inconsistent with best practices in urban road design, emphasizing the necessity for engineers to prioritize cyclist safety. Despite his genuine efforts to advocate for improved cycling conditions, the High Court ultimately rejected his challenge, citing procedural shortcomings in his objections.
