Shang Xiaoyun

Shang Xiaoyun was a prominent Peking opera artist known for her exceptional skills in martial arts and her passionate performances. During the Second Sino-Japanese War, she showed immense patriotism by refusing to perform for the Japanese invaders, despite lucrative offers. Instead, she dedicated her artistry to uplifting the spirits of her countrymen, performing plays that celebrated national pride and resistance against oppression.
