Shantel McLean-Ford

Shantel McLean-Ford is a registered nurse and midwife, known for her inspiring journey from being a teenage mother to becoming the 2024–25 Nurse of Excellence at the University Hospital of the West Indies. She delivered a powerful keynote address at a graduation service for adolescent mothers at the Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation, encouraging them to pursue their dreams and rise above challenges. As a former student of the Centre herself, she has dedicated her efforts to empowering young mothers, leading a year-long support program as part of her award. Her story is a testament to resilience and the belief that one can overcome societal stigma to create a successful future.
