Shardack Ouma

Shardack Ouma, a 69-year-old cancer survivor from Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County, faced a challenging battle with prostate cancer diagnosed in 2021. After undergoing treatment at various health facilities, including Kisumu County Referral Hospital and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH), he has recovered but continues to require monthly medical care. Ouma transitioned to the Social Health Authority (SHA) for his health insurance, expressing gratitude for the coverage but highlighting difficulties with the upfront payment requirement, especially as an elderly, unemployed individual.
