Shaykh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani

Shaykh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani served as the Emir of Qatar from 1995 to 2013 and is recognized as a key figure in the modernization of the country. Under his leadership, Qatar witnessed significant economic growth and social reforms, including the introduction of the first permanent constitution and the extension of voting rights to women in municipal elections. He is often referred to as the architect of modern Qatar, having transformed the nation into a prominent player on the global stage through strategic investments and diplomatic initiatives. Shaykh Hamad passed away on July 12 at the age of 74, prompting condolences from various world leaders, including Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
