Sheikh Abdul Rashid
Sheikh Abdul Rashid, commonly known as Engineer Rashid, is an Indian politician and a member of the Parliament representing the Baramulla constituency in Jammu and Kashmir. He gained prominence as an Independent candidate, notably defeating former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the 2019 elections. Rashid has been a controversial figure, having been arrested in 2019 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in connection with a terror funding case. He has been implicated in serious allegations involving organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen, which have been accused of orchestrating violence in the Kashmir Valley. Despite his incarceration, Rashid was recently granted a two-day parole to attend the Budget session of Parliament.
