Shira Chess

Shira Chess is an associate professor of entertainment and media studies at the University of Georgia. She is known for her expertise in folklore and horror stories, particularly related to internet culture phenomena such as Slender Man. Chess has co-authored a book titled 'Folklore, Horror Stories, and the Slender Man,' where she explores the origins and implications of this internet-created boogeyman, which gained notoriety following the infamous 2014 stabbing incident involving two young girls who were influenced by Slender Man mythology.
