Shireen Taweel

Shireen Taweel is a Lebanese-Australian artist whose work reimagines the figure of the astronaut through the lens of Islamic pilgrimage. Her installation, part of the 'We Are Eagles' exhibition, challenges conventional narratives by presenting a female character, the Hajjanaut, who navigates themes of migration, spirituality, and cultural identity in a speculative context.
