Shitsui Hakoishi, born on November 10, 1916, in Nakagawa, Tochigi prefecture, Japan, is renowned for being the world’s oldest female barber. With a career spanning over nine decades, she began her journey as an apprentice barber at the age of 14 in Tokyo, where she honed her skills through diligent practice. Hakoishi opened her own barber shop in Nakagawa after World War II and has continued to serve her community well into her centenarian years. In 2023, she gained international recognition from Guinness World Records for her remarkable longevity and dedication to her craft.
