Shyamlal Korram

Shyamlal Korram

ex-rebel India

Shyamlal Korram is a former Maoist cadre from Chhattisgarh who once believed he would never become a father due to the vasectomy mandated by Maoist doctrine before marriage. After surrendering and marrying fellow ex-rebel Sonmati in 2014, he underwent a reversal procedure, which allowed him to have children. However, many ex-Maoists have faced difficulties in conceiving even after reversal surgeries, leading to the state of Chhattisgarh considering in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) as a new option for those who remain childless.
