Sidney Pressey was an American educator and researcher at Ohio State University, who in 1924 invented the teaching machine, a device designed to enhance educational experiences by providing automated instruction and rewards. Despite initial enthusiasm, the teaching machine did not revolutionize education as anticipated and now resides in the National Museum of American History.
