Sierra Bird

Sierra Bird is a Florida mother of four who relies on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Snap) to provide for her family. During a recent government shutdown, she experienced delays in receiving her Snap benefits, which she depends on for approximately $900 a month to feed her children. Despite the relief of having her benefits restored, Sierra is concerned about the possibility of another shutdown and is preparing by stockpiling food to ensure her family has enough to eat in case of future disruptions.
