Sihem Bensedrine

Sihem Bensedrine is a prominent Tunisian human rights activist and former journalist who has played a significant role in the country's political landscape, particularly as a leading figure in the fight against the dictatorship of Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali. As the president of the Truth and Dignity Commission (IVD), she was instrumental in documenting human rights violations in Tunisia from 1955 to 2013. She was detained in August 2024 under accusations of falsifying the IVD's final report, but was recently ordered to be released while still facing legal charges. Throughout her activism, Bensedrine has remained a steadfast advocate for justice and human rights in Tunisia, even enduring a hunger strike to protest her detention.
