Silke van Herrewegen

Silke van Herrewegen is a local resident and mother of three living near Elisabeth Park in Brussels. Following the tragic death of 11-year-old Fabian in a police pursuit, she expressed her deep sorrow and concern about the implications of the incident on the community, particularly regarding the treatment of immigrant youth by law enforcement. Silke highlighted the collective mourning felt in her neighborhood and called attention to the systemic issues of racial profiling and police aggression that disproportionately affect families of color.
