Silvânia Leal

Silvânia Leal is the coordinator of the Medical Anthropology Laboratory at the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) in Cabo Verde and the principal investigator of the ONESVEC project, which focuses on enhancing surveillance of vector-borne diseases in the country. She recently announced the identification of a new species of phlebotomine sandfly, known as nizeto, emphasizing its significance for scientific knowledge and public health surveillance.
