Simeon Stylites

Simeon Stylites was a Christian ascetic who gained fame in the 5th century for living atop a pillar near Aleppo, Syria, for over 30 years. His extreme form of penance and dedication to prayer attracted a significant following and made him a prominent figure in the early Christian church.
