Simonides of Ceos
Simonides of Ceos was an ancient Greek poet from the 5th century BC, renowned for his contributions to the art of memory, particularly through the development of the loci method, also known as the memory palace technique. Legend has it that he survived a catastrophic building collapse by using his remarkable memory to identify victims based on their seating positions at a banquet. His innovative approach to memorization laid foundational principles that are still applied in memory training today.
