Simos Daniilidis

Simos Daniilidis is the mayor of Neapolis – Sykeon in Thessaloniki, Greece. Recently, he has been in the news for addressing the discovery of mass graves in the area during renovation works around the Monument of National Resistance. Daniilidis has requested the assistance of archaeological services to conduct further excavations, recognizing the historical and political significance of the findings, which include the remains of at least 22 individuals, some believed to be political prisoners executed during the Greek Civil War.
