Smiljana

Smiljana is a Serbian woman whose story highlights the struggles of love against familial expectations and societal prejudices. Nearly three decades ago, she fell in love with Artan, an Albanian student, but faced severe opposition from her father, Ilija, who insisted that she only pursue relationships with fellow Serbs. Ultimately, Smiljana was forced to choose between her family and her love, leading to a lifetime of regret and heartache. After a difficult marriage and the loss of her husband, Smiljana reflects on her past with a bittersweet understanding of the sacrifices made in the name of love.
