Dr. Sneh Bhargava is a pioneering Indian radiologist who made history as the first and only woman director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi, a position she assumed in 1984. Born in 1930 in Lahore, she fled to India during the partition and later pursued her medical education in London, where she was the only woman in her class. Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Bhargava played a crucial role in establishing radiology as a vital component of medical diagnosis and treatment in India. She has recently published her memoir, 'The Woman Who Ran AIIMS,' which details her remarkable journey and experiences, including her response to the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, whom she treated in her final moments.
