Sofia Hoas

Sofia Hoas is the chairperson of the Association of Svenskbyborna, an organization dedicated to supporting the inhabitants of Gammalsvenskby, a village in southern Ukraine with Swedish-speaking roots. Following the liberation of the village from Russian occupation in November 2022, she has been vocal about the ongoing hardships faced by the remaining residents, as the village has endured continuous bombardment and destruction. With the population dwindling to just three individuals, Hoas is committed to advocating for their wellbeing and hopes for a future where the village can be rebuilt and its inhabitants can return safely.
