Sonam Wangyal

Sonam Wangyal was an experienced Indian climber involved in the 1965 C.I.A. mission to Nanda Devi. He served as a key participant in the ill-fated operation, which aimed to set up surveillance equipment to monitor Chinese missile tests, and later recounted the harrowing conditions faced by the climbing team during the blizzard that led to the decision to abandon the nuclear device.
