Sonia Romero Carmona

Sonia Romero Carmona was a renowned Costa Rican artist and educator, celebrated for her detailed drawings and profound understanding of the human figure. Born in 1929 in Belén de Carrillo, Guanacaste, she gained prominence in the 1960s, particularly through her involvement with Grupo Taller. She dedicated two decades to teaching at the School of Fine Arts at the University of Costa Rica, where she inspired many students. Her artistic philosophy emphasized the beauty of the human form, which she skillfully captured in her expressive works. Romero passed away at the age of 96, leaving a lasting legacy in the Costa Rican art community.
