Sorángel Peña was a grieving mother from the community of Los Brazos in Jamao al Norte, Dominican Republic. After the tragic loss of her two sons, Leovanny and Giguendon Peña Rojas, who were murdered in a laundromat in Pennsylvania, she struggled with profound sorrow that ultimately led to her decline in health. Diagnosed with cancer and suffering from various ailments, her emotional pain was palpable, as she was described by family members as being 'like a dead person' after her sons' deaths. Sorángel passed away ten months after the tragedy, and her funeral brought her family and community together in mourning, highlighting the deep impact of her loss.
