Sri Sumangala Thera

Sri Sumangala Thera was a prominent Sri Lankan Buddhist monk and scholar, known for his significant contributions to Buddhist education and philosophy. He founded the Vidyodaya Pirivena in 1873, an institution that later evolved into the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. His efforts greatly influenced the revival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka and established a strong foundation for Buddhist studies.
