Stavriní Boula-Baritaki

Stavriní Boula-Baritaki is known as the last shepherdess of Aipos in Chios, Greece. Born in the early 1960s into a family of nomadic shepherds, she has dedicated her life to her flock of goats and sheep, embodying the traditional pastoral lifestyle that is rapidly fading. Despite her aspirations for education and a desire to advocate for the rights of her fellow shepherds, circumstances led her back to the mountains where she finds joy and companionship in her animals. Her story reflects the struggles and resilience of a bygone era, as she navigates the challenges of maintaining her family's legacy in a changing world.
