Stella Odie-Ali, now 83, is a resilient figure who overcame severe abuse during her early marriage at 17. A trained teacher, sociologist, and social worker, she has dedicated her life to helping others, particularly women in abusive situations. Odie-Ali served as a lecturer at the University of Guyana and held the position of Minister of Home Affairs during the Desmond Hoyte administration. She recently launched her autobiographical book, 'Reflections – a Guyanese Story', at the University of Guyana, sharing her journey in hopes of inspiring others. Her career also included work as a consultant for the Commonwealth Youth Programme, where she had the opportunity to travel extensively, fulfilling her childhood dreams.
