Stephan Erzia

Stephan Erzia was a notable Russian sculptor born in 1876 near the Volga River. Originally trained in Kazan and Moscow, he became known as the 'Russian Rodin' during his time in Europe. After returning to Russia post-October Revolution, he created significant works commemorating the revolutionary figures. In 1927, he emigrated to Argentina with Yulia Kun on a mission to promote Soviet art, intertwining his artistic endeavors with political propaganda amidst the complex socio-political landscape of early 20th-century Argentina.
