Stephen 'Clarkey' Clarke was a 41-year-old man originally from Meath, who had been living on the streets of Dublin. He struggled with substance misuse issues since his teens but had periods of sobriety and was actively engaged with support services. Tragically, he died while sleeping rough in January 2024, believing that doing so would expedite his placement on the social housing list. His death was ruled as a misadventure caused by multiple drug toxicity, highlighting the harsh realities faced by those experiencing homelessness.
