
Stojan
Stojan, later known as Saint Vasilije Ostroški, was born in 1610 in Mrkonjići, Herzegovina. He was raised in the Orthodox Christian faith and showed an early inclination towards charity and prayer. To protect him from the Turks, his parents sent him to the Zavalu Monastery, where he began his monastic journey. Stojan devoted himself to religious studies, eventually becoming a priest and then a bishop. He played a significant role in preserving Orthodox Christianity in the region during tumultuous times and was known for his miracles and deep spiritual devotion.
