
Stojan Jovanović
Stojan Jovanović, also known as Saint Vasilije Ostroški, was born in 1610 in Mrkonjići, Herzegovina. He became a monk at the Trebinje Monastery and later moved to the Ostrog Monastery after the destruction of Tvrdoš. He was appointed the Metropolitan of Herzegovina in 1639 and is celebrated for his piety and teachings. Saint Vasilije passed away on April 29, 1671, and his relics are housed in the Vavedenje Church at the Ostrog Monastery, making him an important figure in the Serbian Orthodox Church.
